Payroll Specialist

DHRP are partnering a leading firm who are looking for a Payroll Specialist to join their growing and highly successful team. The successful candidate will be a senior member of the payroll team of 10 experienced and specialised professionals providing outsourced payroll services to a number of high profile clients.  There will also be an opportunity to develop and work on payroll consulting solutions for clients as well as the potential for onsite secondments.

The role might be particularly (but not exclusively) suited to someone who has worked in a mid-tier or small accounting practice looking to develop their career in the leading firm in the HR services market. If you are looking for a new challenge please contact Suzanne for more details. 

Responsibilities 

  • Quality review of client payrolls processed by payroll specialists in accordance with rigorous review procedures
  • Adherence to payroll processes and procedures and contribute to the development and implementation of enhanced processes and procedures and streamlining through automation
  • Process and submit Revenue returns on behalf of clients in line with Revenue deadlines
  • Build strong relationships with clients through regular interaction, dealing with their queries and attending client review meetings with the payroll managers
  • Close interaction with employment tax team and introducing them to payroll clients where issues or opportunities arise
  • Assist the Payroll Managers in the completion of internal risk management documentation
  • Accurately record daily timesheets and ensure accurate billing of clients
  • Assist Managers in responding to new client enquiries where required
  • Provide support to other members of the team as required
  • Coaching and supporting the development of junior staff
  • Any other duties as assigned from time to time

Requirements 

  • IPASS qualification is a must 
  • Strong Leaving Certificate
  • Third level qualification desirable but not essential
  • Employment tax or accounting qualification desirable, part-qualified considered
  • At least two years’ experience in the Republic of Ireland payroll processing or advisory
  • Employment tax experience desirable
  • Experience in working in a client service environment
  • Strong attention to detail, in particular in reviewing others’ work
  • Thorough knowledge of all aspects of payroll processing including an understanding of tax/PRSI/USC treatment of payroll elements
  • Excellent computer skills, in particular, a high level of proficiency in Excel
